Unless electricity is provided, most renters must report to their electric department, listed below, and pay a deposit for service before power is turned on. Most departments require no more than two forms of identification and a proof of rental residency (your rental contract or a receipt for rent payment). Gas service is handled much like electricity, but does vary by provider. Most Lee Countians receive gas service from Mississippi Valley Gas. However, for the cities and towns listed below with gas departments, call those numbers for service. Most rental properties do not require water hookup or deposit, but check with property management. Also note: Most residents of Lee County -- except Tupelo and many Baldwyn customers -- should call Tombigbee Electric Power Association for electricity.
